What German funders expect
Expect HGB annual financial statements, current BWA management figures with a SuSa balance listing, and an up-to-date Handelsregister extract. Presentation matters: a well-prepared pack in the format credit officers already use shortens the process materially.
Where a bank relationship is constrained by an existing security position, an intercreditor discussion is usually needed before an alternative provider can move.
Beyond the Hausbank
Factoring is widely used and competitively priced, particularly for suppliers into automotive, engineering and wholesale. Leasing and Mietkauf structures dominate equipment funding.
For larger tickets, Schuldschein placements and international private credit provide capital without the disclosure demands of a public bond, and are increasingly used for acquisitions and cross-border expansion.
Common structures in Germany
- Factoring and reverse factoring
- Leasing and Mietkauf for equipment
- Working capital and Betriebsmittel lines
- Acquisition and growth debt
- Cross-border facilities for group structures
Questions
Can a GmbH raise funding outside its Hausbank?
Yes. Independent factoring companies, leasing providers and international funds lend to German companies routinely, subject to agreeing how security ranks against existing bank charges.
What documents are needed?
Two years of HGB accounts, current BWA and SuSa, a Handelsregister extract, aged receivables and, for asset deals, supplier invoices or valuations.
Describe your requirement once and we structure it, then approach providers active in Germany whose criteria match. There are no upfront fees — all charges are due only once funding is in place.
