Business funding in Poland

Poland has one of the most active corporate lending markets in Central Europe, supported by a well-capitalised banking sector, a very large leasing industry and substantial EU-backed programmes. Facilities are commonly available in both PLN and EUR, which matters for exporters invoicing in euro.

How Polish funders assess a request

Filed financial statements from the KRS registry, VAT and ZUS/US clearance certificates, and bank statements form the core diligence. Outstanding tax or social insurance arrears are close to disqualifying until formally regularised.

Lenders look carefully at currency matching. If revenue is in EUR and debt in PLN, expect either a EUR facility or a hedging requirement built into the terms.

Where the market is strongest

Leasing is the standout: fast, commoditised and available to companies with limited history where the asset is standard. Factoring is similarly mature, with both recourse and non-recourse widely offered.

Investment projects — particularly manufacturing capacity, energy efficiency and renewables — can access EU-cofinanced and BGK-guaranteed structures that materially reduce the effective cost.

Timing and process

Leasing and factoring commonly complete in one to three weeks. Investment loans and grant-supported structures take two to four months because of scheme documentation.

Questions

Can a foreign parent's Polish subsidiary raise local funding?

Yes, and it is common. Lenders may ask for a parent guarantee or comfort letter during the subsidiary's early years.

Is funding available in EUR?

Yes. EUR facilities are standard for exporters, and lenders generally prefer currency matched to your revenue.
